SARANGSoft has been involved in the Embedded System area for a while. Our main focus has been on real-time data acquisition, monitoring and analysis systems. We work with various analog sensors such as pressure, temperature, measurement gauges etc. to acquire and log those data for real-time monitoring and analysis.
Embedded Systems – a combination of hardware and software for specific purposes – are in widespread applications in consumer electronics (TV set, washing machine, camera, cell phone), automobiles (safety systems, dash board, security and locking systems), communication products (such as fax, printers, copier) and so on. These special-purpose computer systems typically consisting of a microcontroller or DSP and limited memory, processing speed etc., are designed to perform a set of dedicated functions such as controlling a piece of machinery or equipment. Extensive research in this field has been making these devices smaller, faster and more powerful. These systems are typically part of a larger system, which may not be a traditional computer system but helps controlling the entire process. Software development in this area concentrates on the delivery of creative, secure, and reliable functionality to improve the working procedure for the end users, e.g., consumers, businesses, manufacturing industry etc.
We are experienced in developing custom solutions for clients in the manufacturing, process control, experimental / recreational (e.g., remote control devices) industries. We have also been working in the following on Data Acquisition Sensors, Networking, Serial Communication etc., and continue to explore new areas.

Case Studies:
1. OSD Expander (On-Screen Display) Provide a simple way to display the data from remote data acquisition / recorder (black box) used in cars, boats, planes for experimental and recreational purposes. A wide range of parameters / values can be displayed on the video screen.
Hardware:
  • Microchip PIC microcontroller based custom hardware.
Software:
  • CCS C and Assembly language.
2. Automatic Hydraulic Cylinder Test Management Solution Hydraulic cylinders have a wide array of applications, including some massive systems for construction, manufacturing etc. Hence these cylinders need to be thoroughly tested before integrating with the end product. During the testing of the hydraulic cylinder, various parameters such as proof pressure, temperature in the ports, drag pressure etc. need to be logged for real-time monitoring and analysis.
Our solution for this scenario acquires all the parameter values using analog sensors and transmits to the workstation for real-time monitoring using the serial communication channel. The logged data is then used for analysis, certification (pass / fail), and reporting purposes.

3. Coating Thickness Measurement for Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Substances In the painting industry, the thickness of coating is a critical parameter to be monitored. The thickness measurements need to be very precise, and there can be more than 100 readings per item, which if noted manually may lead to errors. Our solution automates this procedure by automatically and continuously acquiring the coating thickness data and logging it for analysis, certification (pass / fail), and reporting purposes.
