Every organization has its own need for specific solutions that serve its own needs. It’s like getting a tailor-made dress done – it fits well and looks great. However, it takes time to get it made, and it does cost more, sometimes a lot more! Readymade off-the-shelf clothes “may not” fit as well or may not have the exact color or cut you wished for, but you can choose one that works pretty well, and buy it within a few minutes and not hurting your wallet as much. Most shrink-wrapped products are like that – readily available and serves the need pretty well, and because of large scale production and distribution, the cost is comparatively lower.
The same is true for software too. You can get some custom-made software developed “only for you”, but it will take a lot of time and cost a lot, and you may not have or be willing to give either of those. However, the off-the-shelf stuff doesn’t really fit your needs. What do you do then?
Our solution to that is “Customized IT Solutions”, which is different from our “Custom Software Services” offering. For the later, we provide whatever the customer wants, based on his / her specific need. It does cost more, and it may take the time it deserves. On the other hand, Customized IT Solutions are IT solutions for specific customers or customer / business segments, and built by integrating some of the existing off-the-shelf technologies from other providers – or even the existing infrastructure / solution used by the customer – and with our own products or technologies to fit the specific need. The advantage of this approach is that due to reuse of existing products / technology of a 3rd party or SARANGSoft, the development time and effort is reduced substantially, resulting in much lower cost and delivery time frame. Also, since existing well-tested technologies are being utilized to build the custom solution, the quality is expected to be at least comparable to a custom-built solution.
As an example of this approach, let’s consider our file and folder management product, filexpertez. The application that you see is a thin UI layer, running on top of a set of components / plug-ins. These plug-ins are standard Windows COM objects, and support specific interfaces. So, it’s very much possible to take a couple of filexpertez plug-ins, such as backup and restore or replication (file copy) and integrate that with your existing data management infrastructure, without having to rebuild the entire system or forcing a new UI to the user, because your data management UI can continue to be more or less the same as before, but underneath it utilizes a set of new capabilities. This approach will cost very little compared to making major custom updates to your data management infrastructure, as well as take a lot less time, and have lot less risk associated, because filexpertez is already a well-tested and used product.
You are most welcome to contact us with your needs for such solutions. You never know what all we have ready in our technology toolbox! Enhancing your existing IT solution or creating a more or less custom solution might not take that much time or cost a lot after all.
