Clockwork is a job scheduler which helps set up execution of various regular activities without having to remember to do that every time. It could be to send an e-mail, take data backup, get a reminder, and so on. Being able to setup and manage such a list is convenient and assuring. The Linux platform has a basic scheduler in the form of Cron. However, its capabilities are best suited for the more technically-oriented folks. Users without good knowledge and understanding of Cron will have a hard time utilizing its abilities. SARANGSoft Clockwork wraps the power of Cron into an easy-to-use application with graphical user interface, for the rest of us. It's not necessary for you to do much, except specifying the jobs and their scheduling information. You can schedule jobs on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Some of the important features of Clockwork are as follows:
- Provides a list of already scheduled jobs
- Schedule any number of jobs you want
- Each job contains one or more activities
- An activity may be a program, mail or message
- Execute activities of a job sequentially or in parallel
- Schedule on daily, weekly or monthly basis
- Can repeat job(s) within a day
